Session #103 · 1993–95

Speech #1030037472

We allow waivers for men and women who may want to visit family. seek medical treatment. or conduct business. These people are allowed to enter the United States for a short time. and the McCollumRoukemaSolomonSmith provision in no way alters those waivers. The conference report before us ensures that AIDS shall be classified as a communicable disease of public health significance. and that the longstanding prohibition on HIVinfected immigration stays in place. I am pleased to see that the conference report has rejected specious arguments based on political considerations. and has brought back to us the only acceptable policy supported by medical and scientific evidence. Mr.
