Cesar Chavez was a man of peace and nonviolence who. through his words and his deeds. brought dignity and respect to millions of Americans. He was more than just a hero to HispanicAmericans: he was a man who proved to all Americans that one person. with courage and dedication. can truly make a difference. Like many immigrant workers. even today. Cesar Chavez grew up poor. uneducated. and discriminated against. But rather than let anger alienate himself from American society. he turned that anger into determination.
