But one way or another. the American people are entitled to know how their respective Senators stand on this issue. And as far as I am concerned. that is the purpose of bringing it up. The existing immigration law works for the good of all of the American people. and it must not be treated like a specialinterest football to be kicked around at the whim and caprice of any militant group and its apologists on either end of Pennsylvania Avenue. I intend to do everything I can to see that the AIDS immigration prohibition remains in place. and I truly hope that the Senate will approve the NicklesDoleHelms amendment.
