Session #102 · 1991–93

Speech #1020222651

South Africa. and Somalia. to name a few. Every day we delay ratifying the treaty nearly 40.000 children die. Every week that we delay 250.000 children die. During the period of Presidential inaction. 32.5 million children have been lost. The saddest fact is that most of these deaths have occurred from preventable causes such as vaccinepreventable diseases. diarrhea. dehydration. and pneumonia. Throughout the world. 100 million children work under hazardous and often fatal conditions. Another 80 million children are homeless in the worlds cities and 10 million are refugees. These are all issues addressed by the convention. The problems of the worlds children are our problems.
