Today. there are 23 million American citizens of Hispanic descent. Thousands of people from my State of Wyoming are of Hispanic descent. It is the largest minority community in Wyoming. It is my great honor to represent them In this body. In all sincerity. the illegal immigration bill was a very difficult issue to manage. One of the key parts of that legislation was the legalization of many hundreds of thousands of peopiewe did not know how manywho would no longer be living in a fearful subculture of society. That bill extended legalization to almost 3 million people. many of them of Hispanic origin.
