Session #102 · 1991–93

Speech #1020161544

Senator Walter "Dee" Huddleston. I am not sure that Senator Huddleston. at the time when I was here--and we worked very closely togetherthat he ever got involved in voter registration. He was trying to prevent illegal aliens from entering the country. That is kind of where he was coming from. He thought English ought to be our language. or Americanand that sort of thing. But I do not believe that he was too deeply involved in whether they were registered to vote. He had enough just in trying to get people interested in it. Of course we all know that Congressman MAZZOLI. on the House side. worked very closely with the Senator from Wyoming . as it relates to the immigration bill. S. 250 includes procedures which are already proven effective. I think. so that only eligible citizens register to vote.
