Mr. YungSooYoo. recommended to President Bush last summer that Mr. Bush sponsor an initiative to permit a modest program of Korean family reunification that would unite KoreanAmericans and their loved ones from North Korea. President Bush agreed with this initiative and planning has proceeded to the point where authorities in Pyongyang apparently are ready to grant permission to 15 North Korean families to travel to my State of New York this summer. with an equal number to visit California this fall. each for a 1months stay. It is a very modest attempt. but possibly it Is a crack in the iceberg that has been the North Korean hermit kingdom since the end of the Second World War.
