Session #102 · 1991–93

Speech #1020120004

Mr. President. when my father was 17 years old. he left Russia. a Jewish immigrant. because of the Czars suppression. Then there was a revolution. And he thought he would go back. And his family told him never to come back because the Bolsheviks took over. He never saw his family again. We know that part of history. And then there was a cold war. I love languages. but I do not speak Russian. because my father was terrified to speak Russian in our home during the McCarthy era. Then there was all of the money spent on the weapons of death and destruction.
