The past 17 years have been tragic ones for Greek Cypriots: Some 200.000 Cypriots. about 40 percent of the total population. are refugees In their own land. another 1.619 persons are missing. their fate unknown to their families and loved ones. Greek Cypriots deserve better than to be treated by strangers as secondclass citizens In their homeland. Despite longstanding pressure from the United Nations In the form of 24 resolutions. the Cyprus problem persists.
