PURSELL for addressing one of my concerns about health care access for medically underserved communities. Last year. Congress reauthorized the National Health Service Corps Programs. I was personally Interested In the bill for a number of reasons but particularly because of a health care crisis In my district. In early 1990. a community and migrant health center In Dade City. FL. was forced to eliminate obstetric services when a national health service corps obstetriclangynecologist resigned from the facility. Because the doctor left before his commitment with the National Health Service Corps had been completed. the clinic was not prepared for his departure and did not have the resources to hire a replacement.
