Session #102 · 1991–93

Speech #1020050112

Mr. Chairman. I rise in strong opposition to the gentlemans amendment and in strong support of the remarks of the gentleman from Indiana. I Just would like to comment that only a very small percentage of the refugees that have come to Israel have settled in the settlement area. I think that what we are doing is arranging a scarecrow type of tactic here that does not lead to a peaceful solution to the problem. Mr. Chairman. I rise in opposition to the amendment proposed by the gentleman from Texas . Mr. Chairman. under the guise of trying to promote peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis. this amendment attempts to link aid to Israel to specific domestic Israeli polIcythat is the cessation of settlement activity in the West Bank and Gaza.
