In addition. a Head Start entitlement is supported by the National Center for Children li Poverty. the National Center for Budget Priorities. the National League of Cities. the U.S. Conference of Mayors Urban Summit. the Childrens Defense Fund and the National Head Start Association. This legislation will also expand the Community and Migrant Health Centers Program. particularly in their front line services to pregnant women and children at risk. These centers provide needed health care services to disadvantaged. and often high risk. individuals in underserved areas with high infant mortality rates and poor health prospects. Over 1.3 million women of childbearing age and 2.1 million children under age 15 depend on community health centers as their only source of care.
