The son of Italian immigrants. SILVIO CONTE grew up in a working class neighborhood In Pittsfield. MA. He served in the Navy during the Second World War and later attended law school on the GI bill. While serving In the Massachusetts State senate. SILVIO authored the first ever law to extend health insurance to State and municipal employees.
