Cape Verde. and Angola. The United States chose Holden Roberto and the National Front for the Liberation of Angola [FNLA] to support over the MPLA and UNITA. at that time. But here in 1990 we are still engaged in covert aid to Angola to the tune of $60 million. it is suggested. but at the same time. we are supporting UNHCR to care for Angolan refugees in Zambia. That makes no sense. We could take that $60 million and have it so for underdeveloped nations to help them with their economic development or for our domestic programs or even to reduce the debt as we have heard talked about so much during these past 3 of 4 days.
