Session #101 · 1989–91

Speech #1010209684

Indeed. in an era where Americas production and export ability is often in question. our music creating community continues to make and sell beautiful music the whole world loves. Perhaps no single element of American culture so influences the perception of America abroad. Our unrestrained creative energy. our ethnic and racial diversity. and yes. our often intense debate with ourselves. all come through in our music. From the timeless strains of the Russian immigrant Irving Berlin to the straining chords of the American songpoet Bruce Springsteen. American music cries freedom to a world that longs to hear it. The issue that concerns me.
