The beautiful coastal city of Famagusta remains offlimits to its former inhabitants. a ghost town under military control. 2.000 persons who disappeared during the invasion are still missing and unaccounted for. their relatives prayers and pleas for any evidence or Information as to their fate unanswered. Turkey still maintains a large occupation force on the island. heavily armed.
