It is very unfortunate that Turkey is unwilling to use this good example to negotiate a settlement to the current situation. Moreover. he also threatens to take over the city of FamagustaVarosha whose Greek Cypriot inhabitants were driven away by the Turkish Army in 1974. The United Nations Security Council has called for the Immediate resettlement of refugees in the city and Turkey has refused. I believe it would be a terrible signal for Turkey to take over FamagustaVarosha. The United Nations Secretary General has invested time and effort in an attempt to bring the parties together.
