Speaker. there has been a significant and unsettling increase in the number of crimes committed with a disturbing. recurring motive. one Americans hatred for another. Nearly every day. I hear of a different tragedy motivated by hate. and the victims of this violence are not only those who are on the wrong end of a clenched fist. tire iron. or gun. As long as this violence continues. we are all victims. The greatness of our Nation comes from our diversity and the blood and sweat of immigrants from every corner of the globe. When one of our citizens commits a vicious crime against another because of ethnic. cultural. racial. or other differences. the most basic tenets of this Nations principles are threatened. Mr.
