Doherty deserves to have his day in court. To this end. I urge the Attorney General to grant Mr. Doherty a hearing on political asylum as the Board of Immigration Appeals [BIA] has ruled. I am concerned that the Attorney Generals efforts to countermand the BIA rulings represent a compromise of Mr. Dohertys due process rights. Mr. Speaker. I have long believed that the legislative branch should not meddle in cases still pending before the courts. At issue here. however. is an administrative decision pursuant to a recommendation by an immigration court. Again. I urge the Attorney General to listen to his own experts and give Mr.
