Salvadorans. and Nicaraguans who have been in the United States prior to July of this yearwhile the General Accounting Office investigates whether it would be safe for them to return home. Last summer. the world watched in horror as the Chinese Government massacred thousands of unarmed people demonstrating for democracy In Tiananmen Square. Students who begged for their lives were shot down at close range In cold blood. Hunts were carried out for students hiding throughout China.
