Mr. Speaker. as a political refugee who has felt the anguish of losing ones homeland to communism. I can understand the anxiety that the Nicaraguan people are feeling. I know what it is to see the Communist thugs take away your home. your business. rip apart your family and drive a wedge between children and their parents. It is difficult to list all that is lacking in Nicaragua: food. decent Jobs. an adequate education. health care. justice. the list is too long. However. Mr. Speaker. the one main item that is missing in Nicaragua today is the one thing that this vote can provide: free. open and fair democratic elections for all.
