PA. for 5 years in the early 1800s. made many contributions to the Reading area and to our Nation. The history of his life is a long a storied one. but worthy of brief explanation at this time. Friedrich List was born in Reutlingen. West Germany and immigrated to America in 1825. He settled in Pennsylvania and eventually to Reading where he worked as an editor for the Reading Adler newspaperthe forerunner of our present Reading Eagle. In addition to being an Important columnist. he was also important in the political world and is claimed to be responsible for Andrew Jackson winning Pennsylvania during the 1828 election.
