Daily these two were deluged with letters from the Chinese Government demanding that they abort their second child. These threats came in many contexts. Not only was pressure exerted in the form of harassing letters. but friends and family at home in China were physically threatened as well. Happily in this case. a healthy baby girl was born. Unfortunately. now her proud parents face deportation proceedings. We can easily predict what sort of treatment this family will face if they are forced to return to China. It is almost certain that they will not be able to find meaningful work.
