I rise to speak on an issue which I consider myself somewhat of an authority. I have the largest Haitian American constituency in this country in my district. There are more people of Haitian descent living in my district than anywhere else in the country. The second largest is in Miami. FL. but in Brooklyn in my district. the 12th Congressional District. we have the largest number of Haitian Americans and probably the largest number of Haitian refugees. These Haitians are in constant contact with their brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers and the people they left behind in Haiti. They know like nobody else knows what is happening in Haiti.
