Session #100 · 1987–89

Speech #1000089682

I have a special fondness for the message included in this resolution because I may be the only LithuanianAmerican serving in the United States House of Representatives. Mr. Speaker. my mother was born in Lithuania and emigrated to this country at the age of 4. Several years ago it was my honor and privilege to visit Lithuania to see firsthand my own roots and to see some of the things which have been described on the floor today in terms of religious oppression. The oddity is that the more the Soviet Union attempts to repress religious belief in Lithuania. the stronger that belief is.
