Speech #1000038536

I recently learned that Yull has been released from the Novosibirsk prison. and that he has received permission to live with his wife and daughter in Moscow. Yuli Edelshtein is a man of rare courage and determination. Several years ago. Yuli was denied permission to emigrate from the Soviet Union because of his fathers alleged access to state secrets. despite the fact that Yuli had not seen his father in 20 years. After his application was refused. the KGB began to harass him. and he was eventually forced to leave his Job as an English teacher. But Yuli was not discouraged. and he refused to let the Soviet authorities put a barrier between him and his religion.
