I have tried to illuminate as many of the effects of the new law as possible. I would like to share with my colleagues one that has received little if any attention. which was pointed out to me by the Household Agencies and Nurses Registries Association: the effects of the new immigration law on twoincome families. single working parents. and the elderly. The dramatic rise in the number of working mothers in the past decade has been attributable In large part to the availability of Inexpensivo child care and household labor. These jobs. which are refused by most Americans. are often performed by foreign personnel.
