Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990281347

So the fact that they have to wait to become citizens for 5 years is largely irrelevant. they are in America. And let me assure you there are people who come to America to vote but that is fairly low on the priority. Most people come here to get a job. to have freedom. to build a life. to educate their children. Yes. these people have to wait 5 years for citizenship. but so do the people who get the visa to come. They have to wait 5 years. too. So the point is an interesting one but an irrelevant one.
