Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990271792

Mr. President. I rise today to speak again on behalf of my two friends Naum and Inna Meiman. They are Soviet citizens who have been refused emigration privileges by the Soviet Union. The Meimans have been seeking to emigrate to Israel for more than 10 years. During this time. they have been socially isolated from their community. They have been fired from their jobs. they have lost their phone and they have been followed by Soviet agents. This is the type of treatment most Soviet dissidents receive after seeking to permanently leave the Soviet Union. Inna Meiman is suffering from cancer.
