Mr. Speaker. it is a great pleasure for me to take this opportunity to congratulate St. Casimirs Church of Freeland. PA. on the occasion of its centennial. In 1885 the Rev. Michael J. Falihee. pastor of St. Anns Church of Woodside requested land from coal baron Eckley B. Coxe in order to build a new church for Slavicspeaking immigrants. On March 4. 1986. the cornerstone was laid for St. Casimirs Church on South Ridge Street in Freeland. The church was formally dedicated on September 21. 1890. St. Casimirs has undergone two major renovations and has been rededicated on both of these occasions.
