WEICKER and JOHNSTON. for their cooperation in striking language which would have caused a hardship to a highly deserving refugee population in my home State of California. This slight change in the language will allow one of the most critical components of refugee assistancetargeted assistanceto continue to be allocated beyond September 30. 1987. Targeted assistance funds enable refugees to receive valuable training and social service programs which are crucial to their integration into the American economy.
