Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990243278

Indeed. we do. I am suggesting that we stand in opposition to the abuse of human rights wherever they exist. Keep in mind that the President suggested that there be a report card last summer. that one of the things he asked for was the better emigration of Soviet citizens. freer movement of those citizens. and the like. We are. according to the Senator from Indiana. putting arms control as a higher priority in the world than humans and human rights. Now. perhpas the argument. if I understood it correctly. from the distinguished chairman of the committee would be an argument in favor of my second amendment. which will be introduced later today.
