Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990234271

President. my friends Naum and Inna Meiman desperately want to emigrate from the Soviet Union so they may seek alternative medical treatment for Irma who is suffering from cancer. This past June. Naum and Irma helped found the International Cancer Patient Solidarity Committee with two other refusenik cancer patients. Tatiana KheifetsBogomolaya and Benjamin Charny. to publicly seek support for their release. Several medical scientists and physicians have since formed committees in Montreal. New York. Boston. Detroit. Chicago. Los Angeles. Edmonton. Vancouver. London. and Tel Aviv to support the rights of Soviet cancer patients denied exit visas. I submit for the CONGRoESSIONAL REcoRD a letter of their endorsement. I strongly urge the Soviet authorities to allow the Meimans exit visas to Israel.
