The nation of Pakistan is a close ally of the United States. It has been stalwart in its stand against the Soviet threat to the subcontinent of Asia posed by the Soviet Unions brutal invasion of Afghanistan. It has taken in millions of innocent Afghan refugees driven from their homeland by the Soviet Army. Pakistan. with much needed assistance from the United States. is a strong protector of security and stability on the subcontinent. It is also important to note the Pakistan Governments moves toward democratic rule.
