Mr. President. Naum and Inna Meiman. a Soviet Jewish couple. applied to emigrate from the Soviet Union to go to Israel over 10 years ago. Time after time. the Soviet Government has denied permission for the Meimens to leave. Now. the situation is dire. Inna has had four operations to remove cancerous tumors on the back of her neck. I am sorry to report that a fifth tumor is growing and Soviet doctors have told her there is nothing more they can do. Naum. now 74. has been denied permission to leave because of alleged secret work performed for the Soviet Government.
