Speech #990164776

As visitors come into the apartment. Naum makes a fuss. giving house slippers and making sure that you have a comfortable place to sit. Like any hospitable couple. Naum and Inna bring out some sort of sweet and the inevitable Russian tea. Visiting with Naum and Inna Is like going to any friends housewith one major exception. As foreigners. you and I can leave. The Melmans. and others like them. live each day in hope. Without our voices. my colleagues. their hopes may fade. We cannot allow ourselves to grow silent. I urge the Soviet authorities to allow Inna and Nauru Meiman to emigrate.o
