Mr. Chairman. I would like to express my support for H.R. 2418. health services amendments. which would extend the authorization for the Community and Migrant Health Centers Programs through fiscal year 1988. and repeal the authorization for the Primary Care Block Grant. In 1985 Tennessees community health centers served over 150.000 people in 49 counties across the State. These centers have established track records for effectiveness and efficiency. but there are other sound reasons for supporting health centers: By reducing hospitalization rates by as much as 50 percent for comparable populations. health centers help to contain the rise in Medicaid costs at a time of reduced Federal participation.
