This House is a great institution. but it is Members like PETER RoDINo that make it shine. He has been a counselor to me and to many Members. a friend who is always ready to spend time with any Member who has a problem or seeks his counsel. He has worked his way for 36 years through the ranks of this institution speaking out and providing leadership on a range of issues important to our Nation and important to the people: Immigration reform. civil rights laws. voters rights. antitrust issues are some of the landmark contributions that PETER RoDmo has built. He has worked with the public interest foremost in mind. the rights of minorities. the rights of the needy. the downtrodden. a champion of those who otherwise were without power and a voice in the centers of power.
