He will be responsible for ensuring that the various agencies have adequate resources to fulfill their mandates and protect and conserve the lands and resources of this Nation. His position is one of support for the other Assistant Secretaries to enable them to achieve their objectives. Mr. Riso has previously held several senior management positions within the Federal Government. He was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health and Scientific Affairs at the then Department of Health. Education. and Welfare from 1970 to 1972. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service within the Department of Justice from 1982 to 1984. He comes to this position well qualified. and I urge my colleagues to support his nomination.
