I welcome the opportunity to join as a cosponsor of the Simon amendment. I want to give assurance to the Members of this body that this proposal was reviewed in the Select Commission. There was a total review of our immigration exclusion policies. Although this does not go as far as the Select Commission recommended. it is completely consistent with the spirit of the Select Commission. so there has been a thorough review. Second. we are considering provisions in this legislation that deal with visa waivers. G4 visa cases. Hong Kong quotas. so it is appropriate that we consider this on this bill. We voted on gasohol. we are going to vote on Social Security. we have voted on the parts of call of the Soviet Navy.
