The Wilson amendment will protect domestic workers. It will protect foreign workers. It will also insure that foreign workers. who participate in the seasonal worker program. will return to their native countries upon the expiration of their visas. It will make temporary. legal immigration more attractive to foreign seasonal workers and will make permanent. illegal entry into the United States less attractive. I ask the support of my colleagues in adopting this amendment. which will benefit the farmer. the consumer. and the country as a whole. Mr. President. I appreciate the efforts of the distinguished Senator from California in leading this battle. because I do believe it Is a correct amendment that will help. in the final analysis. to pass an immigration bill. At least. that is my hope. and I commend the distinguished Senator from California for his efforts.
