Mr. Speaker. I think all of us. as Members of Congress. certainly deal on a daytoday basis with cases of people who are trying to emigrate. immigrate into this country legally. I guess when we embrace the concept of blanket amnesty. what do we say to those people? What do we say to someone who for years and years petitions. waits. in many cases with severe hardship to legally come into the United States of America. to pass that Statue of Liberty. and to get that lump in the throat and feel so good about coming here legally. what do we say to them when this Congress is prepared to acceptthere are many people in this Congress who are prepared to accept blanket amnesty for the lawbreakers.
