They have all applied for exit visas and they have all lost their Jobs. and they are all essentially noncitizens or nonpersons in the Soviet Union. The father Is a World War II veteran. When he came to this apartment. the first thing you noticed is that he proudly wears his ribbons with which he was decorated defending the motherland. but he no longer has a motherland. I asked him about the ribbons and I asked him about the Soviet Union. and he said. "Things have changed since the war." He said. "In Russia. our name now is traitor." I visited with Boris Elkin and his family. he and his wife and two children.
