I am joining today with my colleagues to speak out against the mounting persecution of Jews in the Soviet Union. I am appalled that Jewish emigration. declining since 1979 to oppressively low levels. reached a new low last year of only 896 persons. Combined with this. an antiZionist campaign currently raging throughout the Soviet Union creates an atmosphere of necessity in reaffirming once again in todays special order our commitment to Soviet Jewry. The question we have to be cognizant of at all times is: how can we best aid Soviet Jews?
