Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990005062

Yet I must believe hat his spirit has not been silenced. /Te do well to pay tribute here today o all the David Goldfarbs of the oviet Union who continue to seek jusice in the face of persecution. Their ourage is. indeed. inspiring to all of Ls. but perhaps more importantly. it is spiring to the thousands of other loviet citizens who are also oppressed y a regime which fears freedom. I join my colleagues in urging the dministration to make use of all apropriate opportunities to raise the ssues of Jewish emigration and perseution with Soviet authorities. As we work to free the world of the threat of nuclear war. let us also work to free the world of the threat posed by intolerance and hatred. The message of the Jews in the Soviet Union is that inaction is. indeed. complicity.
