Speech #980211292

Mr. Chairman. I move to strike the requisite number of words. Mr. Chairman. it strikes me as ironic that in a bill which provides that employer sanctions are the key part of protecting our borders and of preventing the hiring of undocumented workers. that in the industry. agriculture which has the highest record of utilizing undocumented workers. we now weaken and dilute. I think to a tremendous extent. the verification requirements. I would like to ask the author of the amendment several questions if I might. if he would be willing to respond on my time. The first question is. does this reduction in verification requirements apply to the worker hired for a growers farm by a farm labor contractor?
