American Baptist Churches. the United Church of Christ. the Union of Hebrew Congregations. and other religious leaders. as well as Catholic Bishop Anthony J. Bevilacqua of Pittsburgh. Chairman of the U.S. Catholic conferences immigration committee. Specifically. the 19 leaders endorsed legislation which would temporarily halt the deportation of Salvadoran refugees in the United States. For the benefit of my colleagues. I would like to submit. in the RECORD. the text of the letter which was sent to the Congress by these religious leaders.
