Reverend Father. distinguished guests. ladies and gentlemen: Today. we are celebrating the Polish Constitution of May 3rd. 1791. one of the greatest documents known to man. It reminds us that the Polish nation and the American nation are bound together by a deep respect for the rights of men. As Polish Americans. I believe that we are the children of a great common heritage. We can be very proud of the Constitution of 1791. We can also be proud of what Polish Americans have accomplished since the first immigration of Polish settlers to Jamestown in the 17th Century. We can be proud of Kazimierz Pulaski. Tadeusz Kosciuszko and other sons of Poland who came to America to fight for freedom.
