More than 100.000 people from throughout the Northeast are expected to join the march down Fifth Avenue and the rally across from the United Nations to protest the Soviet Unions repressive treatment of its 2/2 million Jews. who comprise the worlds third largest Jewish community. This rally. which promises to be the largest manifestation of support for Soviet Jews anywhere in the world this year. comes at a critical time. Emigration of Soviet Jews is at a 16year low. Only 303 Jews have been allowed to leave the Soviet Union this year. fewer than would have been allowed to leave in a single day as recently as 1979. In the meantime. at least 20 Prisoners of Conscience are rotting in Soviet prisons and camps.
