Speech #980188423

Mr. Speaker. I take the well to inform you that my constituents are going to be angryvery angry. There is a report in todays Washingon Post that you have once again delayed floor action on the immigration bill. This time until after the June primary elections in California. Perhaps the Speaker still does not realize how important this issue is to California. But what I find to be even more disturbing is the fact that it was my own California colleagues from the other side of the aisle that requested this delay. This is most interesting considering the fact that their Presidential primary will probably be sewn up by then. and thanks to their diligent efforts during the reapportionment process. it appears that not one of them faces serious election threats.
